Strategies needed to predict, treat prolonged neurologic symptoms after CAR T
Immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome is a complication of chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy. The condition is characterized by neurologic symptoms, such as tremors, confusion, delirium, seizures, decreased attention and language impairment. The exact pathophysiology of immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS) is not well understood but may include disruption of the blood-brain barrier and CAR T cells directly targeting cells in the brain.
